TRAVEL RULES- THE DO’S AND DON’TS

Travelling is one of the best things that one could possibly do.  We often come across tips from people who travel a lot. They enlighten us with what to do and what to see.  However there are a few things that we should be careful and cautious about as well.  Here are a few do’s and don’ts of travelling.

THE DO’S

BE LOCAL

Try out something new and try the local stuff.  You have travelled so far to experience something different. So be it cuisine, clothing, merchandise or mode of transportation, do what the locals do and experience the local culture.

HAVE A HEARTY LAUGH

Since you are in a different place chances are that you might do something different or clumsy that might appear to be funny.  Just laugh it off and take it as an experience.  After all, it also gives you an opportunity to narrate a different tale years later!

MAKE NEW FRIENDS

Talk to the locals while travelling and mingle with people in the countryside or village. They will be able to share their knowledge and experiences with you and also give you tips on how to move around, what to eat and where to visit.

USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT

As far as possible do not hire a local cab and move around.  You miss out on the opportunity to see things the original way.  Use the train, bus or any other local mode to commute that is unique to the place.  Also taxis might overcharge you once they see you are a tourist.

TRAVEL EARLY

Make sure that you rise early and enjoy the early hours.  Also in case you have to move around or travel to a nearby city or town going early to beat the traffic is always the best.  You get a smooth ride and also experience the fresh and happy hours of the morning in a different place.

THE DON’TS

RESTRICTING YOURSELF TO POPULAR TRAVEL PORTALS

Explore various travel platforms to know more about bookings, hotels, places to visit etc.  This will give you more information and also help you be more focussed.  You might also find a better deal than you expected.

STOP BEING A TECHNO- ADDICT

Technology can always wait.  You are on a vacation and to make it a completely memorable experience make sure that you keep your phone, i pad or laptop away.  Facebook check ins, Instagram pics, chats and office mails can wait.

BE WARY OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS YOU CLICK

Be careful about what you click, whom you click and also how you pose and where.  For eg. You might find an interesting statue to pose with and click a picture.  Several places of historical importance actually forbid people from posing or imitating certain statues.  You wouldn’t want to get yourself in to trouble!

OVERLY-BARGAINING

While buying souvenirs or purchasing anything from local vendors, do not keep bargaining.  Remember to pay the fair price.

DON’T OVERLOOK YOUR SAFETY

How much ever you plan, never ignore the fact that a new place is somewhere you need to be alert- ALWAYS! Always take precautions while travelling.  Check the areas that you will be travelling to.  Consult your travel agent or hotel authorities.  Do not expose your valuables around and make sure you have travel insurance.

Go out there, enjoy and have a hell lot of fun!
