Weekend in coorg , it’s Great spot During Monsoon😊.

Our family trip was long overdue.. Me and my hubby were busy throughout the year and hence decided to go on a holiday to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary 😊 I wanted less travel time and more relaxation time..so we finalised on a resort near Kushalnagar which is around 4 and half hours drive from Bangalore.

We booked only a week in prior and since June is the bustling season for holidays, most of the good rooms were booked already. Monsoons have arrived early this year, so the weather seemed a bit of concern to travel. Nevertheless we set out on Saturday morning around 7am in our car and it was a very good morning drive. We took the Bangalore-hassan route instead of the Mysore route.

Our first stop was at Shell petrol bunk to fill petrol, where we found out the coolant was almost over and so got delayed filling it. Next, we stopped at Udupi Garden along the highway after crossing Nelamangala toll for breakfast around 9am. After a heavy and satisfying breakfast, we started again on the toll road. Since we had got fast tag on our vehicle, we took advantage of the same to bypass quickly at tolls. My son’s favourite songs rang in the car stereo and it was a feast to my eyes to watch my favourite color green splashed all along the route smiling after being rainwashed. My husband enjoyed watching the bikers team going for a ride in their super bikes.

There were public toilets built near tolls which really promote Swatch Bharat. Google maps however let us into small village roads and finally we reached near Kodagu around 11.30am. From the main road around 7km to reach Coorg Jungle Camp Backwater resort. Although it is a bumpy ride in the last leg of travel, the beauty of the forest around you makes up for it.
We reached around 12.15 to the resort and since our check-in was 2pm, we had to wait till 1pm to get early check in. Meanwhile the weather was pleasant and the sun had just started to come and we watched wandering around the resort and clicking some photos.

We had booked a Nest room for our stay, although cottage and studio rooms looked even more beautiful from outside, our third floor balcony view made up for the loss. We had a good view of the swimming pool, green patch and backwaters right from the balcony. Once our bags were unloaded and saw through the resort itenary then we rushed in for lunch in the light drizzle with the help of umbrella..the buffet lunch was good and my son enjoyed the fruit and vegetable salads.

We walked a little around the kids park and went to room to rest for a while. Evening high tea was arranged, we came around our fellow tourists in the resort. A bunch of kids made their way to the tables. We had hot aloo bajjis with coffee and set out on an evening walk towards the backwaters. Our son enjoyed running around the green patches and my hubby enjoyed his photography, clicking using my Samsung S7 phone. I enjoyed the serene beauty in and around the place.

Once back from the walk, we went to play indoor games and played ludo and snakes and ladders. it was almost 7pm and disco lights were in and my son danced on the music floor, meanwhile few others came in to order drinks and juices. we then moved to outside restaurant where on the large projector Jurrasic park was being shown and campfire was set up too. We sat there for a while and live music started around 8pm, by then my son was hungry and we went in to have our complimentary dinner buffet. It was well assorted menu and on the tv, music channel was being played. After dinner we went back to room to retire for the day.

The next day I wanted to go for a morning walk, however we have thunder n rains all night and light rain continued through the morning. Hence we missed on the walk, swimming pool and also the cricket game my son had planned to play on the lawn. But me and my hubby has some ‘we’ talk over coffee watching fisherman in the backwaters early in the morning through rain drizzle. Since our checkout time was at 11am, it hardly left us time to get our son ready, have our complimemtary breakfast and click a few more pictures and attend anniversary wish calls from family 😊

The drive back home was uneventful except our lunch stop at Swati delicacy on the Hassan road where we had good food and nice play area for kids. Again it was fun passing the tolls using our fast tag and reached home through the rains in 5hrs just in time for the evening tea. Since it was our anniversary day we visited temple nearby and enjoyed cake cutting at home with in laws and finally etched a memorable wedding anniversary which was also star birthday of my handsome son in a jubilant way 🎉
